Honoring Women Who Lead & Inspire
I’ve been fortunate throughout my life to be surrounded by strong, successful women—my wife, my daughter, my mother, judges and colleagues. I’m proud to support policies and a culture that ensure equal rights and opportunities for everyone, today and for generations to come. Women’s achievements have shaped our communities, our state and our country, and they deserve to be celebrated every month of the year.
When I was 9 years old, I helped with lit drops for Rosalie Wahl. I did so while being educated and impressed by a female family friend, who in those days was called a “women’s libber.” I voted for the Mondale/Geraldine Ferraro presidential ticket, not because of Mondale’s MN affiliation, but to empower the historic female VP on that team! In fact, when I first ran for elected office in 2008 for a Minnesota House seat, a newly elected State Rep from Brooklyn Park was willing to meet with me and give me guidance in my campaign. That woman was Melissa Hortman, and I am forever grateful for her mentorship and kindness.
I am committed to fighting for equality and making sure every person’s rights are protected in our district, in our state and at the Capitol.
